I have the goose bumps all over while reading this unbelievable book

This book is beyond amazing. It is so breathtaking to read I have the goose bumps all over my body. This story is beyond unbelievable. I enjoyed and loved reading this book and the entire series. It is my favorite read this month.
Do you believe in guardian angels? If you do not, read this book and your belief will change. When our loved ones passed away, someway or another they try to communicate with us through dreams and sometimes smell. I missed my Dad so very much. It has been 13 years he passed away. I would be happy if I hear his voice in my dreams or see his  face. He used to be a painter and sometimes I can smell a paint in our house though my husband is not painting. I will speak to myself and will say, Dad, are you around? It makes me happy that though he passed away in the Philippines, he still watching me here in America. It is an amazing feeling because I am such a Daddy girl.

I hope that there is a second book of Dan’s view. I am looking forward to read it be amazed all over again. Ms. D.D. Marx, you blew my mind away.

How did you do research for your book?

Many of the places I write about in my book, I’ve never been too. I used the internet to research fun places to provide a location or setting for a scene or character. I also created Pinterest Boards to help me feel the scene as I was writing it. I’m a very visual person so it helped me to provide that next level of details.

Which was the easiest character to write?

Tex-Mex. He is a completely fictional character – a cowboy. Not sure how or why he developed in my head, but he was the most fun to write. His accent. The dialogue. When I dreamed him up, I pulled up a map of Austin, Texas. I expanded the map and picked a rural area that would be common for ranches

Your book is set in Austin, Texas. Have you ever been there?

I randomly chose – Dripping Springs, Texas – which is where the story ends. I’d never been there, had no idea what it looked like and didn’t know anyone that lived there.  The craziest thing about that choice is I ended up writing all of ‘The Dan Diaries’ IN Dripping Springs, Texas. I wintered with friends in Austin and another friend opened a co-working location in Dripping, where I rented a space and finished the series. Coincidence or fate?

What genre do you write and why?

I write in the Chick-Lit genre because I like the fact that it’s not just about romance or steamy sex, it’s about a journey and overcoming adversity. Readers root for the heroine who usually stumbles her way to a happy ending.  It’s not cliché but is sweet, romantic and light-hearted. I’m a happy go lucky person so want to extend that to my audience.

How long have you been writing?

I went to college and took journalism and public relations courses. Writing was a huge component of that major. My mind has always been more artistic than analytical, so I was smart enough to invest in my strength. I didn’t end of using it until 2015 and now I can’t stop. It brings me so much joy. I’ve truly found my passion.

This will gives you goose bumps

Beyond Love is the second book from the Beyond Series. Just like the first book of the series, Beyond Love gives you goose bumps. This book never stops giving me the chill. It is eerie but oh so good.

I love the wedding scenes. The view is just so beautiful.I am sure that I will loved it in person as I love living in the country side. Love that is second chance is must better especially when your friends from beyond is there to help you with your life and your relationship.

This book is beyond unbelievable. I loved every moment I spent reading this book. There are scenes that happened recently and reading it is a little scary.

I cannot wait to read the 3rd book of the series. Tragedy happened but if you surround yourselves with family and friends, in no time your life would be amazing.

Where do you get inspiration for your stories?

I was always told that I had a knack for story-telling but I never pursued writing as a hobby until a few years ago.  I studied it in college then never really went back to it.  I got fired from my first job ever about five years ago. It was the worst experience of my life so I vowed to change my life. Couple that with the fact that I lost my best friend Dan in a car accident when we were twenty-three, I had this story inside of me that I felt compelled to share. This series is somewhat of a fictional autobiography. It’s fun to intermix reality with fiction and blur the lines a bit.  In terms of inspiration for characters, I can’t explain where it came from. Everything around you can be inspiring if you’re paying attention.

Do you have another profession besides writing?

I am a Senior Technology Project Manager by day.  I implement Microsoft Software within large corporations to help them create efficient and consistent business processes. It’s not glamorous but I feel very fortunate to work with extremely talented people that I like to not only consider colleagues but friends. They make the work fun.  This profession is what led me to writing. It’s unpredictable and volatile at times which makes for great content.

There are many books out there about….What makes yours different?

I believe this series covers a topic that no one in the world escapes – death.  It’s a hard topic. A painful topic. Everyone has lost someone they love and has experienced grief in varying degrees.  I channeled my grief into this series.  The story blends real life experiences with fictional characters and events.  The goal was to have them so intertwined the reader can’t tell what’s true or not.  The question I get asked the most at Book Club events is – “was that true? Did this character really exist?” This dialogue helps to flesh out the parts of the story the reader connected with and helps me understand what they want to see more of in the future books.

What is your next project?

I am writing a follow up to this series called The Dan Diaries.  It will be the same story but told from my friend Dan’s perspective in Heaven. I’m excited to take liberties around where he is and what he is doing. He was a character in life so it will be wrapped in humor, I know that for sure.  It will feel great to feel so connected to him while I write it from that angle. I truly feel like he puts things in my path to spark inspiration.

Where do you write? Do you write every day?

I write when I feel “in the zone”. It’s not daily. It goes in spurts when you feel inspired or motivated. It could be weekly or sometimes I put it away for a month or two and come back to it.  What I have learned is that no matter when I sit down to tell the story, it will come out the same way.  I’ve left the book sitting on a shelf for months and when I picked it back up again, I find many times that I’ll write the same exact paragraph over again. It’s when I am editing that I’ll catch it. It’s freaky.

If there is one thing you want readers to remember about you, what would it be?

That you are always connected to your loved ones once they’ve passed. You just need to be open to the signs. Follow your dreams and don’t ever give up on faith, hope and love.

Beyond Believing is a sweet, funny, and romantic story that touches the heart, serves up delicious twists and turns, and shows the reader that there’s no such thing as “coincidence.” Author D.D. Marx regards this book as her “love letter to friendship,” written in memory of her best friend, Dan.

I rate this book 5 *****’s

I found my best read for the year 2015. I so loved this book so much. Beyond Believing by D.D. Marx is such a beautiful book to read. The cover looks so pretty. One of the prettiest paper book signed copy I ever own and read.

This book is very inspirational. It gives me goose bumps when I read it. The book is hard to put down. I finished reading it by the second day. The book deals with true friendship especially between Dan and Olivia. Tragedy strikes this friendship and coping up the loss is the hardest thing to do.

I loved Olivia’s spirit to survive in her daily life even Dan is dead. She asks for sign and she  gets it every time. There is so much coincidence in the story not to notice. I do believe in reincarnation. It comes in different forms. Do you believe it too?

Olivia is such a workaholic girl and very adventurous as well. She travels a lot on work related. I am glad that she met Flinn and sparkles ignite between these two. The book is very emotional. You might need tissues beside you so prepare. I highly recommend this book who loves romance, second chance and fighter that never stop looking for the right love.

Thank you D.D. Marx for this amazing book. I am a new fan. I love this series and cannot wait to read the second and third books. I just cannot wait to find out more about Olivia and Flinn and their life together.

Interviews with D.D Marx :On writing:

Which was your favorite character to write?

I loved writing about Dan Sullivan, who is based on my dear friend who passed away.  It took me down such a fond memory lane. It allowed me to write down details about what it was about him that I loved so much. Now I can treasure those words for the rest of my life.

There are many books out there about….What makes yours different?

The goal of writing my book was to connect with other people out there who are going through struggles, hardships and loss.  Not one of us is not immune to life’s deepest and darkest challenges. I hope people can relate to the characters and find comfort in knowing they are never alone in their own battle.

What is the last great book you’ve read?

I read Unbroken. I have such a hard time reading about such pain, tragedy and brutality especially when it is another human being inflicting it knowingly. It makes me question how people can be full of such hatred and evil.  There isn’t any part of my being that can relate and I cannot tolerate witnessing such human suffering. The amazing part of this book was this man’s willingness to still move on, to want to live and to ultimately forgive those who caused him harm.  God-like strength and perseverance which is nothing short of remarkable and awe inspiring!

On rituals:

Do you snack while writing?

Usually I use hunger as an excuse to procrastinate writing – LOL!  My favorite is surgar-filled snack like sour patch skittles. Something to jolt the brain into deep thought…for the 15 minutes the rush lasts.

Fun stuff:

Favorite travel spot?

I love anywhere sunny and warm, especially in the winter to get out of the cold, frigid Chicago winters.

Favorite dessert?

Something tart like Key Lime Pie!

If you were stuck on a deserted island, name 3 things you want with you?

Let me start by saying there are 3 people in this world, I would love to banish to a deserted island but that was not the question. So instead I will say,

  1. I’m very social so I would need at least one person with me  so I wouldn’t go out of my mind, so I’ll say my best friend!
  2. A working speed boat with a motor to get back to the main island!
  3. Chips and Salsa – yes, I am counting that as one item because they go together so well! These would be delicious to share with my bestie until we got back to the civilization – haha. Can you tell I wouldn’t want to be on a deserted island? I would give “Wilson” a whole new meaning.

If there is one thing you want readers to remember about you, what would it be?

I hope in some small way I can inspire someone to really go after and pursue their dream! Trust me, if I can do it so can you!!  I just decided it was time to stop fitting in, not follow the safe route and take some calculated risks to change my life. I don’t regret a minute of it! It has been an amazing journey from day 1 and just keeps getting better.
