This resulted in her indictment of first-degree murder of Foerster and seven other felonies related to the shootout. A member of the Black Panther Party, she became a prime target of the Federal Bureau of Investigations Counterintelligence Program. Assata Shakur’s life will keep you breathless
This is my second book that I read from the author Ms. Barbara Casey. Just like my first book, I also loved reading the life and legacy of Assata Shakur.
I loved to watch documentary especially about criminals on TV. It intrigues me and there is something unique about learning profile of criminals. Capturing them from the best authorities even mesmerizes me.
Reading this book not only you learned from history but usually how Assata Shakur’s life from the beginning to the end as being fugitive. What I loved about her is? She will not allow anybody to step on her toes because she is a black woman. This girl is feisty and loved her even more.
History is a beautiful subject to learned so as this book. It is educational, thrilling at the same time phenomenal. Life is about experienced and this book will teaches you a lot more life itself. I loved that this book is about woman fugitive. It seldom happen that a woman is a fugitive and even captured my mind to read it even more.

How did you do research for your book?
Since this book is nonfiction, it was necessary to do a lot of research. It was made even more difficult by the fact that no other book has been written about Joanne Chesimard aka Assata Shakur other than her own autobiography. Because of her activities in the Black Panthers and the Black Liberation Movement, as well as the numerous crimes she supposedly committed, I was able to uncover a lot of information through interviews, court transcripts, newspapers, birth records, FBI documents, and writings of her associates who were involved with her in criminal activities.
What was the most difficult part to write in your book?
In writing about Assata Shakur, I wanted to present all of the evidence and facts about her life objectively and without bias. This was extremely difficult because of the crimes she committed and her behavior throughout her trials. I believe I succeeded, however, in writing a comprehensive biography that will allow the readers to make their own judgments of Assata Shakur.
In the title of your book you make a reference to Assata Shakur as being “a 20th century escaped slave.” How did you come up with this idea?
Throughout her life, Assata Shakur thought of herself as a slave in a white man’s society. When she escaped from prison, she once again referred to herself as a slave who had escaped. It just seemed appropriate to make that my sub title.
What made you write a book about Assata Shakur?
Until recently, all of my books have been fiction—novels written for adults and young adults. Last year I wrote my first book of nonfiction—Kathryn Kelly: The Moll behind Machine Gun Kelly, and it has been quite successful. In fact, it has been optioned for a major film and TV series. So when our government relaxed its closed-door policy with Cuba, the country to where Assata Shakur has been living in exile, I thought it would make an interesting book to look into her life.
Where do you get inspiration for your stories?
Inspiration for my stories comes in many forms. Many of my novels—such as The Cadence of Gypsies and The Wish Rider, the first two books in The F.I.G. Mystery Series—started out as a single line of poetry. From that I have developed The F.I.G. Mystery Series. Inspiration for my adult novel, The House of Kane, which was considered for a Pulitzer nomination, came to me because of my many years of working in the publishing industry. Probably the most unusual inspiration came to me when I wrote The Gospel According to Prissy, also a novel for adults. It is the story of a child who was born with the gift of prophecy and I first got the idea after reading an article in the newspaper of a five-year-old child who preached the gospel.

It’s magical, adventurous and healing is so powerful once you let it go
I have seen hawk at the zoo before but never that closed. I have also seen hawk flying over our chicken coop but am not sure if it is a red-tailed hawk. I know I am mesmerized especially how it spread its wings flying up in the sky searching for food.
This book is magical. I know that I believed in magic as well. It mesmerizes you when you read this book.
It is also adventurous. Mariah and her family never had an adventure of their lives like this. It is fun driving to different States and learned exciting places to explore.
It has also the power of healing and let it go. Mariah at 17 years old. She is very smart and fearful and adventurous and willing to experienced life oh her own but her mother thinks she is not ready spread her own wings. Healing is so powerful once you let go.

Father Book by Clarissa Wild
Confess your sin. People call me Father, but I prefer Frank because I’m the worst preacher you’ll ever meet.Days spent completely wasted pull a number on you, especially when you’ve got a truckload of baggage that comes with it.
Until this beautiful girl in the back of the church takes my breath away.
…And we end up committing sacrilege in the confessional.
Did I mention I’m filthy?
Bad doesn’t even begin to describe me, and after one taste of what she’s got to offer, I want more.
Too bad having a dirty mind isn’t the only thing we’ve got in common…
Our past is laced with sin.
Author’s Note: This book is not for everyone. It’s raw. It’s vulgar. It’s downright offensive. But it’s oh so damn delicious with a capital D. If you are easily offended or prudish, please don’t read this book. But if you like a bit of humor mixed in with raunchiness and brawling, you’ll love this book.
Contains disturbing situations, strong language, and graphic violence.
I rated this book 5 sinfully delicious stars
Why temptation is so irresistible
This book reminds me of a very handsome priest back in my hometown. When he serves the mass, the church is always full. God not only he is handsome but has the sexy voice too.
Well, bless me Father Frank because I have sinned in the eyes of God. I hope that he will forgives me but Father you are so irresistible. The temptation is way too strong.
Lord have mercy! This book is so funny, full of twist at the same time hotness way overload. I really enjoyed reading this book and forget how many times I need to go to the bathroom to take care of business lol.
This is my new favorite book from Ms. Clarissa Wild. She blew my mind as always. Diego is as sweet as candy, that kid is hilarious. There are several moments that you will hold on to your e-reader. There so many mind blowing scenes that you will adore more of the author’s writing.
Love forgives and moves on. Love is sacrifice and Father Frank will do that to his loved-ones to repent his sins. Father is a must read book and highly recommend it if you like to temptation.
She smiles again and bites her lip, looking at me with those dreamy eyes. Gosh, I wanna kiss her so badly. And then I figure … why not?So I grab her face and pull her close until our lips touch and our mouths lock. I can’t help but smile as I kiss her because every second I taste her on my lips is another win.
She’s everything I ever wanted, and I think I’m only just beginning to understand what this means for me. For us. For the future.
When our lips unlatch, her face still hovers so close to mine. I can feel her hot breath on my skin, and it makes me wanna do all the dirty stuff I promised the nurses I wouldn’t. The question is: Would anyone notice if we did?
“I know what you’re thinking, and the answer is no,” she quips, putting up a finger.
“Aw … c’mon.” I sigh.
“No! This is a hospital, for crying out loud.” She snorts. “But I’m glad your dick still works perfectly fine.”
“You can break my bones and shoot me down, but nothing will ever stop this monster dick from getting stiff as a rod, trust me.”
She snorts, and I kiss her again for good measure, tasting the sweetness that is her mouth so I can remember it while I’m stuck in this stupid hospital bed and she’s gone home.
“Ugh … I wish I could stay,” she murmurs against my lips.
“Can’t you?”
“I’m not a patient, remember?”
“You could be. There’s an empty bed. I’ll kick Carl out.”
She sniggers from my comment. “You’ll be out in no time.”
“And what then?” I ask. “Are you coming to live with me in the church or …?”
“No, thanks. I don’t wanna get killed by Margaret. Or worse … give her a heart attack.”
“Heart attack?” I frown.
“She’d die of one if she caught us having sex one more time.”
I laugh. “Well, she’ll just have to deal with that then. I mean, c’mon, a man’s got his needs, right? She knows that.”
“Does she even like me?” she asks, toying with my hair.
“Of course, she does.” I grab her hand and kiss the back. “You like me … so she likes you too. The two go hand in hand.”
“Really?” She raises a brow. “Because I know what we did last time we were there, and it wasn’t pretty.”
“We’ll be more … secretive from now on,” I muse, biting my lip. “And I can’t wait to defile the church all over again.” I grunt and pull her onto the bed with me, smashing my lips to hers, fiercely taking her.
I can’t help myself. It’s just the way I am. A needy asshole who can’t get enough of her.
“Stop,” she murmurs, grinning. “We have to behave.”
“For now. But wait until I’m outta here. Then we’ll see how bad I can get.”
“Who says I wanna?”
“Don’t lie to yourself,” I tease, poking her in the belly. “You and I both know you want me.”
“Fine.” She rolls her eyes. “I’ll take you back, but …” She pushes me back with a flat hand. “You still have some making up and groveling to do, Mister.”
With a lopsided smile, I say, “Call me Father Frank … and I’ll make you confess all your sins.”

Love is patience
I am truly and madly in-love with Bear. My goodness this man has the longest patience over the entire men universe. Love is patience is what his motto is. It is all worth in the end.
He is very funny, persistence and panty melting drop dead handsome. I cannot believed Crystal makes him suffer that long. This is one roller coaster book of emotions to read. It is very emotional.
It is one of the best book I read this month. I think I need to reread it again.

Yellow-billed Magpie Book By Nancy Schoellkopf
Book Description:
Unlike their black-billed cousins, yellow-billed magpies are rarely found outside California’s central valley. So when they begin showing up in Samantha O’Malley’s dreams, she wonders: are they calling me home?

Disappointed by failed fertility treatments and the break-up of her marriage, Samantha returns to her home town and slips into old habits, resuming her teaching career, even hooking up with an old lover. But she also renews her friendship with Craig, the school custodian she honors as her spiritual guide. The work they do together with Samantha’s special education students will lead her to discoveries she never thought possible.

Yellow-billed Magpie is a love story, a spiritual journey, a quest to look beyond appearances to the mystical rhythms that guide the human heart.
I rated this book 5 *****’s
Spiritual, powerful and second chance of love
I enjoyed reading this book so very much. It is spiritual, powerful and second chance of love. Divorced and childless Samantha gave up her first marriage and moved back to California, which she considered home. Life sometimes is not fair and we have to moved on. This is what happened to Samantha. I agreed to her decision to end the marriage to a man he thought she loved but was wrong.
Samantha is a very caring person. Being a teacher with disability is a tough job but with her kindness, patience and heart of gold, she helped kids success and find their strength. Lulu will amazed you. Echo is tough cookie. She will break your heart with her story.
It is also spiritual. Some scenes are even magical. At first, I thought this book is boring but boy was I wrong. You cannot judge a book by its cover.
This book is so emotional. I also has a special child and can relate to Samantha but while we will never give up for them, no doubt that special kids will shine.

- Where do you get inspiration for your stories? I haven’t always had the happiest life, but when I’m patient enough to pay attention, I see my life is filled with magic and synchronicity. Characters for me to write about just spring up naturally.
- There are many books out there. What makes yours different? Yellow-Billed Magpie and Red-Tailed Hawk are stories about quests, about women who are looking for their place in the world. It’s an ancient story that’s repeated every day all over the world. I’ve infused my stories with bird lore, a bit of fairy tale fantasy and spiritual wisdom I’ve learned from mentors and guides. I hope I’ve created characters that are wild and fresh and vulnerable enough to touch readers’ hearts.
- Who are these guides and mentors? I had a teacher in high school—Sister Mary—who told me I excelled in writing. She’s the one who gave me permission to call myself a writer, and the courage to actually be a writer.
Much later I met the real life Craig who became a spiritual mentor for me just as the fictional Craig is for Samantha. He opened my heart to see the great potential in my writing. He dropped his body in 2013; I miss him every day.
- What advice do you have for budding writers?
- Develop a practice. Much the way an athlete cross trains or a musician practices scales, a writer must write. Do it every day if you can, but at least three times a week. This helps you develop a flow, so when a poem or story comes, you’re ready! Otherwise you sit around writing about writing.
- What’s the last great book you’ve read?
A. Edwina Gateley’s spiritual memoir In God’s Womb from Orbis Books. Gateley has lived her life relying completely on Divine Guidance, and the Spirit has led her all over the world. A poignant story of a humble woman of deep faith.
Truths Not Spoken Book By Pamela T. Starr
Book Description:
Single mother Laura Walters had her life under control. She had a jewelry business, a generous best friend and a careful watch on her nine-year-old daughter, Emily. Then, Emily is seen on national television with Vic, the man who could tear their world apart. With one thirty second news clip, Laurel’s life turns into a tailspin. The paparazzi chase her. Two men from her past want her: Vic is a former lover. Kyle a former friend. They both know her secret, and either one could ruin the careful life Laurel built for herself and Emily.

A roller coaster of emotions
I have not experienced raising a child by myself though I witnessed my three sisters raised their kids at a young age. It is not very easy but my nieces/nephews did alright now. My sisters went too many rough times raising their kids by themselves. The kids father are no show up and no support at all.
I understand Laura’s over protectiveness to protect Emily especially signing the contract. I am so glad that she has a very supportive best friend. Laura is one tough single Mom until the chaos came back into their lives.
Truths Not Spoken is a book full of roller coaster emotions. I really loved this book. It has twist that you never expected to happen. Betrayal and lies are one of those emotions that are hard to tackle. This book has the romance that was hidden but now blossom into beautiful relationship. Truth hurts but it will set you free.

What advice would you give budding writers?
Truths Not Spoken is my first published novel, so I feel like I’m still a budding writer myself. But the best advice I can give is: Just Start It.
This is an attitude I’ve taken with a lot of things in my life. It’s clearly a rip off of Nike’s famous slogan, but there are times when “doing something” still seems way too intimidating for me. That’s why I tell myself to just start. Start anywhere. Start in the middle. Start at the end. Just get something down on my computer, on paper, on my smart phone, wherever.
Starting can be scary for some people. My advice is take your ego out of the way and don’t worry if your writing is good or not. Starting is a huge accomplishment! You’ll never finish if you don’t start.
What’s the funniest thing that ever happened to you?
I was single and dating for a long time, so a lot of my funny experiences come from dating mishaps. They didn’t always seem funny at the time, but with a bit of distance, I can laugh at them (usually.)
About ten years go I was on a first date with a man who took me to dinner at a very expensive restaurant—the kind that made me feel a bit intimidated (the restaurant, not the man.) We were walking through the parking lot when something flew right into my eye! I collapsed on the ground, horrified at the fact that there was a bug in my eye, but even more horrified at the fact that Mr. Extravagant was watching me wail on the ground.
Once I was able to communicate what happened, he pulled me over to a street light, tipped my face up and very gently fished the bug out. The moment we got inside the restaurant, I bolted for the ladies room. My eye was red and watering and my eye makeup streamed down my face, with no hope of resurrection.
Mr. Extravagant was very kind to me throughout the dinner and even called me a few days later. But for some reason the spark I hoped for just never materialized.
I have a feeling this story is one that is going to make its way into one of my future books. I just hope it ends better for my future heroine than it did for me!
Do you write every day?
When I was writing Truths Not Spoken, I wrote almost every day. I had a weekly word count goal and I broke it down into daily chunks. Sometimes I’d feel especially inspired and would meet my weekly goal ahead of time, then I’d give myself a day off.
Now, I’m in the fun brainstorming stage of my next book. I’m not writing every day, but I am making notes. My plan is to get back to business in May. When I do, I’ll start with my weekly goal again. Hopefully I’ll be as productive with the new book as I was with the last one!
Do you belong to any writers groups?
When I decided to get serious about Truths Not Spoken, I joined a writers group. For about six months, I sat in the meetings, hardly saying anything. I just wanted to absorb everything I could from the other writers. I also took a class at a local college. I learned a lot from the instructor, but even more from the other students. When the semester was over, one of the students organized a critique group. That group was great because we all were just starting out, so it was easier to share my writing with other aspiring authors.
Name a quirky thing you like to do.
I love to read cook books and watch cooking shows, even though I’m not a great cook. I have a secret fantasy about being a fabulous cook, but can’t ever seem to bother actually trying new recipes. Sometimes I go as far as making a grocery list, but when I get to the store and realize I need ¼ teaspoon of some exotic (and expensive!) spice that I’ll never use again, I scratch all the ingredients off my list and go back to my old standards.
How to have the fun after the book signing
I really wanted to buy the VIP ticket from the book signing event. It is not much but I know that my husband will not allow me to attend the party after book signing in Canada. I bet it would be so much fun hanging out with the readers and the authors as well. I love music especially if the host has this accessory like the dj setup check it out at GuitarCenter. You can grove at the same time having the best time if your life.
