Book Description:

As Craige Ingram climbed the stairs of the derelict building, that peculiar stench of a dead body hit him. It was the same smell no matter where—SpecOps SEAL encounter gone sour, or in a vacant, roach-infested apartment. Inside, his SEAL buddy-turned head of Buckingham Parish Homicide’s Investigative Support Division, Grayson MacGerald, was huddled with the coroner next to a swollen decaying corpse that was days old and hardly more than oozing dead meat.

The PI inside Craige had a gut feeling that there was more to this than a dead body, and Craige’s Grannie always told him, “Trust your feelin’s.” But that was before Mihály Keaulescu set down two of his Black Falcon choppers on Craige’s Moccasin Hollow private airstrip in an uninvited stopover. It got worse. From his airstrip to Israel, to Turkey and a nightmare-dream of one-of-a-kind ancient artifacts that not only threatened the serene life Craige knew and loved at Moccasin Hollow, it would destroy the world.

Friendship and beyond the call of duty

I enjoyed reading this book. It is my favorite from the author’s writing. Friendship even retired will do anything and beyond to protect the people and the country. This book is so unbelievably good. It will blow your mind with these two friends who is willing to die not only for the name of friendship but for the place they lived in and loved.

There is so much actions, adventures, betrayal and above all spies. This book is hard to put it down. Prepare to be amazed. I loved the scenery, laugh out loud moments at the same hidden messages that are hard to read and very informative.

I have the goose bumps all over while reading this unbelievable book

This book is beyond amazing. It is so breathtaking to read I have the goose bumps all over my body. This story is beyond unbelievable. I enjoyed and loved reading this book and the entire series. It is my favorite read this month.

Do you believe in guardian angels? If you do not, read this book and your belief will change. When our loved ones passed away, someway or another they try to communicate with us through dreams and sometimes smell. I missed my Dad so very much. It has been 13 years he passed away. I would be happy if I hear his voice in my dreams or see his  face. He used to be a painter and sometimes I can smell a paint in our house though my husband is not painting. I will speak to myself and will say, Dad, are you around? It makes me happy that though he passed away in the Philippines, he still watching me here in America. It is an amazing feeling because I am such a Daddy girl.

I hope that there is a second book of Dan’s view. I am looking forward to read it be amazed all over again. Ms. D.D. Marx, you blew my mind away.

How did you do research for your book?

Many of the places I write about in my book, I’ve never been too. I used the internet to research fun places to provide a location or setting for a scene or character. I also created Pinterest Boards to help me feel the scene as I was writing it. I’m a very visual person so it helped me to provide that next level of details.

Which was the easiest character to write?

Tex-Mex. He is a completely fictional character – a cowboy. Not sure how or why he developed in my head, but he was the most fun to write. His accent. The dialogue. When I dreamed him up, I pulled up a map of Austin, Texas. I expanded the map and picked a rural area that would be common for ranches

Your book is set in Austin, Texas. Have you ever been there?

I randomly chose – Dripping Springs, Texas – which is where the story ends. I’d never been there, had no idea what it looked like and didn’t know anyone that lived there.  The craziest thing about that choice is I ended up writing all of ‘The Dan Diaries’ IN Dripping Springs, Texas. I wintered with friends in Austin and another friend opened a co-working location in Dripping, where I rented a space and finished the series. Coincidence or fate?

What genre do you write and why?

I write in the Chick-Lit genre because I like the fact that it’s not just about romance or steamy sex, it’s about a journey and overcoming adversity. Readers root for the heroine who usually stumbles her way to a happy ending.  It’s not cliché but is sweet, romantic and light-hearted. I’m a happy go lucky person so want to extend that to my audience.

How long have you been writing?

I went to college and took journalism and public relations courses. Writing was a huge component of that major. My mind has always been more artistic than analytical, so I was smart enough to invest in my strength. I didn’t end of using it until 2015 and now I can’t stop. It brings me so much joy. I’ve truly found my passion.

The Lies I’ve Told by J.L. Berg
Publication Date: June 4th, 2018
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Lies_iBooks

Synopsis: From USA Today bestselling author J.L. Berg comes a brand new By the Bay stand-alone novel…

Everything was going according to plan…

After years of working my way up the corporate ladder, it was finally my time to shine. I was about to receive the promotion of a lifetime.

But just like that, my life was destroyed with a single career crushing email.

Now, I am headed back home to North Carolina, under the ruse of an extended vacation to help run the family inn while my sister is on maternity leave. After all, what is family for? Plus, a few days at the beach could definitely help uncomplicate this crazy life of mine.

Enter Aiden Fisher.

Aiden is a guest at my sister’s inn. He’s wicked hot, a huge flirt and has one of the sexiest British accents I’ve ever heard. But beyond all that, I see a darkness in his soul, as if he’s carrying a great weight upon his shoulders.

I find myself pushing back my trip home to Florida in hopes that maybe I’ll look into those hazel brown eyes and finally see truth shining back instead of lies. That maybe he’ll stop running and tell me the truth for once.

But you know what they say about liars? It takes one to know one and I’ve been telling the biggest lie of all – I’ve fallen hopelessly in love with Aiden.

And isn’t that the scariest truth of all?

I rated this book 4 ****’s

It is an emotional book to read

Relationship builds with secret and illicit affairs will not last. Destiny will help you to heal and loved again. This book is emotional. You might need a Kleenex. It is a fun book to read as well with family ties so closed especially with sisters. It is a beautiful book of dreams but heart aches. They say if you loved someone, set them free and if comes back, then it is meant to be. This book is about it. I enjoyed reading the series.

Excerpt:

My eyes bolted open as sunlight from the windows glared down at me.

Where am I?

I sat up, quietly stretching as if I had all the time in the world.

Because I did, right?

No job. No responsibilities.

Responsibilities…

Shit!

Breakfast for the guests!

I bolted out of bed, frantically searching for my clothes. Where were my clothes? I tried to think back to the night before, but it was blurry.

Hazy.

And then the hammering in my head began.

Shit, how much did I drink last night?

“Where are you running off to so early?”

The deep British accent had me stopping in my tracks.

Last night…

I turned on my heels, tugging on the short shirt I had on, wishing it were suddenly a dress. Or a robe.

Or anything longer than a shirt.

Aiden’s eyes perused my body with a wide grin on his face as he casually tucked his hands behind his head. I tried not to notice the way the muscles in his arms flexed.

Or the fact that, besides a carefully placed sheet, he was basically lying naked before me.

“Oh my God,” I whispered. My fingers raked through my hair as I tried to remember the night before. “We didn’t…did we?”

The question had him immediately sitting up in bed, causing that well-placed sheet to shift.

I gulped as all of him—and I did mean all of him—came into view.

Oh Jesus, Mary, and Joseph.

I turned around, my cheeks flushing as heat spread through my body. He wasn’t just naked. He was naked and very much awake.

“You don’t remember?” he asked as I listened to the bed groan as he stood.

“No,” I admitted. “Do you?”

I heard the telltale sign of jeans being zipped, giving me the courage to turn back around. Sure enough, he was decent.

Well, as decent as a shirtless, hot-as-fuck Brit could be. God, I thought his muscles had muscles.

“Um, no,” he answered, but there was a hint of sadness to his eyes as he reached down to grab his shirt off the floor.

I let out a tiny whimper of protest as the black T-shirt slid down his body.

He really was beautiful.

I shook my head, trying to keep focused. “Oh, that’s great. Just fucking great. So, what happened here exactly?”

He pointed to the pile of clothes and the mostly empty alcohol bottle on the nightstand, that sadness drying up as he let out a breath and straightened, his features hardening. “I think that’s pretty clear.”

My arms folded across my chest before I realized that only brought my shirt higher up my waist. Aiden didn’t miss the extra peek of flesh either as I watched his grin widen.

“Nope, I don’t believe you. I don’t do one-night stands. Ever.”

“Ever?” he echoed, surprise written all over his stupid face.

“Yes. Ever. Why is that so hard to believe? Do I look like the one-night-stand kind of girl?”

“Well, right now. Sort of.”

Marble isn’t the only thing that’s hard at this museum.

His body is as chiseled as Adonis. His lips are as sculpted as David. And his ego is the size of the Guggenheim.

You know the type—wolfish smile and the gravity of a black hole. The kind of man who sucks all the air from the room the second he enters it. My cocky boss thinks this internship was wasted on me, and he doesn’t hesitate to let me know.

But he’s wrong, and I’m going to prove it to him. If I can stay away from his devil lips, that is. Lips that cut me down and kiss me in the same breath, leaving me certain he’s on a mission to ruin my life.

And maybe my heart.

Excerpt:

He smirked and flipped up his sunglasses.

Bastard.

“You’re early,” I clipped.

“I would have had my assistant text you, but she’s currently bedridden.”

You could have texted me.”

“I didn’t have your number,” he said simply.

“Oh.”

His eyes shifted to look behind me, and I turned to find my friends standing me in a row with my suitcase in front of them, my messenger bag on top, and fake smiles on all their faces, lips together, their judgment about as quiet as a foghorn.

“These your roommates?”

“Yup,” was all I said as I turned and took my suitcase, hugging each of them down the line with promises to text when we landed. And then I turned to Court, rolling my suitcase in front of me like like a riot shield.

I tried to pick it up to carry it over the threshold, but it was heavy, and before I could get far, he’d swept it out of my hands like it was a loaf of bread and not fifty pounds of mascara and shoes.

I waved at my friends, who offered encouraging smiles and hand gestures, and I closed that door, immediately regretting every decision I’d made to bring me to the moment I turned around.

He stood at the door to the backseat, holding it open for me like a gentleman, which I knew he was not. But the look on his face of regret and deference, under the hard shell of his brooding, was almost too much to bear.

So I did the only thing I could.

I ignored him.

I ignored his gorgeous lips as they tilted and the sleek cut of his jaw as I walked past him. I ignored the sight of his long legs as he climbed in next to me and the smell of him that made me want to grab him by the lapels of his jacket and bury my nose in his chest.

The driver took off, and I busied myself in my bag, looking for my headphones and book.

His eyes were on me. I pretended like I didn’t notice.

“You’re not wearing lipstick,” he stated.

Headphones, headphones, headphones. “It’s an international flight, Court. Of course I’m not wearing red lipstick for a ten hour flight.”

A pause. “Rin, I—”

Aha! I popped in my earbuds the second they were in hand.

His lips flattened, his face unamused. Rin, his lips said, but I smiled and shrugged, pointing to my ears.

“Noise canceling,” I said way too loud.

His chest rose and fell with a sigh I couldn’t hear—I’d already turned on music, a playlist we’d built the night before geared toward resisting douchery and unwanted-slash-totally-wanted advances—and he reached into his own bag, a leather affair at his feet, his hand disappearing into the bag and reappearing with a book, which he handed to me.

He watched me with his expression shrouded as I paused, my eyes on the offered book. An image of Penitent Magdalene by Tintoretto filled the cover, and I met his eyes, pulling my earbuds out by the cord.

“I thought you could use this. For your proposal,” he said, giving nothing away. “I…A colleague of mine wrote it, so if you have any questions, I can connect you. If you want.”

I took it from his hand, surprised and disarmed. “Thank you,” was all I said. He opened his mouth as if to speak again, but closed it, and with a nod, he reached back into his bag for his own book. Margaret Atwood’s Oryx and Crake.

I put my earbuds back in place, trying not to bite my lip, but it found its way between my teeth despite the effort at the sight of him sitting there, dressed like that, reading Margaret Atwood. After giving me a thoughtful gift, a book he knew I would want, one I would need for my dissertation.

Court Lyons made about as much sense to me as a scrambled up Rubik’s Cube.

I leaned against the door as I flipped through his gift, doing my best to sort through the rush of questions and confusion as Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s sang about being cheated by the opposite of love. And I found I knew exactly the feeling.

About the Author

Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life — a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can’t forget that. She’s also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She’s been a wife, though she’s certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She’s also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she’s been drinking whiskey.

From roots in Houston to a seven year stint in Southern California, Staci and her family ended up settling somewhere in between and equally north, in Denver. They are new enough that snow is still magical. When she’s not writing, she’s reading, sleeping, gaming, or designing graphics.

FROM USA TODAY BESTSELLING AUTHOR M. ROBINSON
So here you are…

Turning the pages, opening the next chapters of my life—wanting to know the next truths of my sins. As if the first half of my life wasn’t enough.

You. Need. More.

You want my redemption.

My heart. My soul.

Your happily ever after…

You. Want. Answers.

And I will grant you the very first one you’re dying to know.

Why did I leave her?
So go ahead.

Turn the page.

I dare you.

You just might not like the answer.

Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

She
couldn’t take it anymore and started pushing me to get free from my grasp.
“Stop! I hate you, Damien! Do you hear me? I fucking hate you!” she yelled over
and over again, aching to make herself and me believe it.

My heart
broke.
My fingers
twitched.
And tears
threatened to surface.
However, I
wouldn’t let up and just kept caressing her, kissing her, whispering that I
loved her. Battling her hateful words with my loving ones. I could feel she was
reaching her breaking point, as much as she could. Her wrist suddenly slipped
through my grip and she shoved me with so much force that she was able to slap
me across the face. Going full speed to do it again, but I intervened by
grabbing her forearm, pinning her to the blanket. Locking down her petite frame
with my flawed heart and beaten body.
She laid
there beneath me, panting profusely, emotionally and physically consumed with
tears cascading down the sides of her face. For a moment, I allowed her to take
my breath away. In my eyes, she’d never looked so fucking beautiful.
So goddamn
breathtaking.
So fucking
mine…

I leaned
forward and kissed away all her tears, tasting her nightmares, her memories,
her love and hatred for me. Tenderly kissing my way to her lips while her body
continued to shudder from my intense, overpowering love. Overwhelming her
emotions and overriding her thoughts the way only I could ever do. Before
another second slipped by, I kissed her for all the years I didn’t, for all the
times I couldn’t, for all the moments I so desperately wanted to. Losing myself
in her. Almost like I was trying to kiss the agony and pain I caused right out
of her. Wanting to hold her tormented burdens, inflicted solely by my mistakes
and regrets.

The best book ever from Ms. M Robinson

El Pecador is the best book from the author Ms. M Robinson for me though I read most of her books. This book has everything you want to read as a reader. As always, it has the angst as she is known for it. It has all the intense scenes and so many mind blowing that you are not sure if your mind can handle all the twist. The intimate scenes are as excruciating sizzling like summer. This could be an amazing book turned into a movie. I so enjoyed reading this book. Kudos to Ms. M Robinson, she nailed this book in one thud of the hammer.

A delicious and intense read

Ms. Chelle Bliss delivered another delicious but intense read again. She is one of my favorite author. Guilty Sin is a unique read from Ms. Bliss for me. It is different from her other books but has the same family bonding, funny and hotness overload. It has actions, suspense and forbidden. I loved the bonus scene the most. I am not a fan of threesome but Ms. Chelle delivered those lines beautifully. This story is beyond beautiful. It will open your hearts in a different way to let someone come into your lives. Love is the most kindest thing happened to these three characters. It is nice to read some of the characters from the old books.

Book Description:

At thirty-six, Susan Sinclair has it all. She’s just been promoted to Senior Vice President of Mobile Banking at her firm, a prestigious position bringing fresh creative challenges and a hefty salary increase. Like the shiny new BMW in the driveway of the Silicon Valley home she shares with her husband, Matt, and their two beautiful boys, Susan exudes confidence and style.

Yet despite her success in juggling the roles of wife, mother, and businesswoman, Susan struggles with a secret dissatisfaction. Matt’s work in cutting-edge computer research pays less than her job, and with each advance in her career, he has grown more distant. But Matt refuses to admit there is a problem, and Susan forces herself to play along, determined to give her boys the close-knit family life she never had.

Then she meets her new boss, Reese Kirkpatrick. Working and traveling together, she and Reese become a crackerjack team, but little by little, pleasure mixes with business. For the first time in a long time—maybe ever—Susan feels seen and appreciated for who she is. Certain she would never allow their friendship to cross the line, Susan lets herself stray dangerously close to the edge.

A moment of weakness changes everything. Now, unable to stomach the façade her marriage has become yet unwilling to decimate her family by moving forward with Reese, Susan faces a choice that could cost her everything—including her children . . . but possibly bring her more than she can dream.

Praise for Degrees of Love:

”Slabach crafts a relatable, heartbreakingly real story that will no doubt resonate with those at a similar station in life: women who love their families yet yearn for just a little more—to feel wanted rather than needed, to feel passion rather than complacency. In engaging prose and through skillful storytelling, Slabach captivates with an all-too-familiar story that raises questions with no easy answers.”
– Kirkus Reviews (Starred Review)

“This does not read like a debut author’s book. Slabach shows herself to be adept at portraying the complex emotions of the human condition. Her characters live and breathe on the page in a way that every author strives for, but few actually manage. Susan’s struggles ring true, and the way she handles everything makes her a very likable and relatable character.”
– Sarah Perry, San Francisco Book Review, 5 Stars

“Profound, heart wrenching and very emotional, it is hard to believe that Degrees of Love is a debut novel by Lisa Slabach. This is one of the best novels I have read this year.”
– Rabia Tanveer, Readers’ Favorite

Book Title: Sass, Smarts, and Stilettos: How Italian Women Make the Ordinary Extraordinary by Gabriella Contestabile
Category: Adult Non-Fiction, 201 pages
Genre: Travel / Arts / Fashion / Self-help
Publisher: Sumisura Publications
Release date: November 2017
Tour dates: April 23 to May 11, 2018
Content Rating: G (No violence. No swear words. No sex scenes.)

Book Description:

Ah, that inimitable Italian style. It’s embedded in an Italian woman’s DNA. Fashion doesn’t define her. She defines herself. She knows an extraordinary life is not about status, money, or achievement. The only mastery it requires is one her heritage has given her, the irrepressible passion to make art of life itself.

Ask an Italian woman where she gets her sense of style and she will tell you it’s not about labels. It’s tethered to humble roots; humanity, community, conscious consumerism, and a profound appreciation for art in all its forms.

Sass, Smarts and Stilettos takes the reader on a journey from the humble hill towns of Abruzzo to the revered fashion capitals of Milan and Rome, into the artisan workshops of Florence, and the humanistic business practices of Luisa Spagnoli, Brunello Cuccinelli, and Alberta Ferretti, from the emergence of Italy’s fashion industry after WWII, to slow food and sustainable fashion initiatives taking root around the world.

Life lessons echo in the words of the author’s mother and grandmother, in the voices of Italian film divas, designers, tastemakers, writers, and artisans across generations, from the first Sala Bianca in Florence to the game-changing design ethic of Franca Sozzani, Miuccia Prada, and Donatella Versace.

Learn how to live fully within your own philosophy of living. Say goodbye to mindless consumerism, emotional clutter, and others’ expectations. Create a personal style that fits like a custom blazer by Ferrè and enchants like the colors of a Sicilian sunset. Then go on to craft an extraordinary and empowering life made-to-measure for you alone.

I rated this book 4 ****’s

What a very inspiring and beautiful book to read

I enjoyed reading this book. It is not only beautiful but very inspiring to book. It gives you more insights about a strong woman who not only loves passion but also enjoyed life to the fullest in different countries and still enjoy being herself.

There are some words are hard to read but the glossary on the back helps me to comprehend. I love how Italian has big family and family oriented. I can relate that to my Filipino heritage. This book is very heartwarming to read with so much love and passion. It teaches you the love for food with big mouth and a sassy attitude, that is my favorite part of this book.

I cannot wait to read more books from this author.

About the Author:

Gabriella Contestabile is the author of the novel, The Artisan’s Star, and owner of Su Misura (Made to Measure) Journeys; a boutique travel concept for the female traveler who relishes off-the-beaten-track adventures that celebrate the Italian way of life.

The book/travel initiative has its roots in her pre-writer life as a foreign language teacher, later as Executive Director and Vice President of International Training in a number of global companies (including Estee Lauder, Shiseido, and Prada Beauty) where she would create immersive and unconventional learning experiences in unique settings around the world.

One of her favorite pastimes, wherever she is in the world, is to scout out the best, and most ‘Italian’ espresso in the hood. It requires multiple tastings, but that’s the idea. Gabriella was born in Italy, and raised in Ottawa and New York City, where she currently lives with her husband, her mother, and a furry Shih Tzu named Oreo.

  1. Do you recall the first book/novel you ever read?

‘Little Women’ by Louisa May Alcott.  I was eight years old and I still own the book.  I read it both in English, four times, and in Italian, twice.  As an Italian immigrant living in Canada it made me yearn for New England, a piano, and a house full of sisters. Jo March became my role model and it pretty much sealed the deal.  I would be a writer and a feminist, and that was that.

  1. Are you an avid reader?  If so, are there certain authors you would like to emulate?

Yes and yes.  I wish I could write biography like Walter Isaacson and fiction like Marguerite Duras and Isabel Allende. I wish I’d written ‘To The Wedding’ by John Berger, the short stories of Alice Munro, the poetry of Louise Gluck, the works of Dickens and Dostoyevsky, and penned a powerful treatise on life and death ‘When Breath Becomes Air’. But then I also wish I could sing like Maria Callas.

  1. Any advice you’d like to give your younger self?

Read Barbara Ueland’s “If You Want To Write”.  If I’d done so before embarking on my first novel I wouldn’t have taken ten years to get it perfect, which it isn’t, and I would have written more books. Ueland’s advice is essentially ‘don’t get it right, get it written’.

Most important, know your reader and the literary experience you want to create. Work with a good editor, send out to reviewers and readers for feedback, make the final tweaks and changes, give it to a proofreader and when all is in place send your book out into the world and move on to your next one. Ueland’s advice is solid and as straightforward as it gets.

  1. What did you want to become when you were a kid?

A myriad of things but they all had one in common-they all involved writing, travel and creating experiences; actress, foreign correspondent, UN ambassador.  I loved theater and would stage plays in our back yards complete with scripts and costumes.

When I was ten my father gave me the book “A Passionate Sightseer’ by Bernard Berenson. It sparked my wanderlust and an interest in all things Tuscan. Years later while researching “The Artisan’s Star’, I was re- directed to Berenson’s book.  I consider it karma that Berenson’s distant cousin, the elegant model and actress, Marisa Berenson in and her famous grandmother, Elsa Schiaparelli, appear so prominently in the pages of ‘Sass, Smarts, and Stilettos.’

There’s this full circle thing that keeps surfacing in my work. While I research in the present I always end up in a place I’d explored at another point in my life, which proves, yet again, that the book we want to write has always resided inside us in some form.

  1.  Do you have a guilty pleasure?

I never feel guilty about enjoying all the small pleasures life has to offer. I love Bollywood movies and dance, all the color and drama. I love Wonder Woman.  I love books and movies that make me cry. Same thing goes for opera. Put me in a place where my emotions can run free, where I can laugh and cry with abandon and I’m the happiest person around.
