What if there was a child in the neighborhood for whom you developed a special fondness but was nine when you were nineteen and twenty when you were thirty with two children and a husband who still didn’t care? And what if you were a boy whose only happy memories were a few soft words uttered now and again by a beautiful neighbor ten years your senior and whose voice and face and figure, back-lighted by the golden light of the setting sun, were all that would sustain you when your life was threatened every minute of every day in the mire of a squalid war nobody wanted?

This is the story of Jacqueline and Tommy, their lives stubbornly paralleling with no convergence in sight until one cold night she sees him starving to death on a crowded street filled with happy tourists.

What would you do if you saw him there almost unrecognizable, just another mass of neglected, invisible wreckage? Turn the pages of The Fear of Being Eaten: A Biography of the Heart and find out what happened to Jacqueline Rhondda and Tommy Middleton.

The town is famous in the region for its chronic stillness…Consequently, every ambitious person who grows up there eventually leaves in search of better opportunities.

Life in Mbengwi, Cameroon, is not easy for Austin-or for anyone else. While growing up, he bears witness to the worst parts of life and the cruelties of human nature. These things keep his homeland trapped in a cycle of misery and suffering. In a country overrun by poverty, death, unrest, and corruption, he sees no future for himself. The only way to escape the cycle is to flee to a place Austin believes to be free of all these troubles, a place where he hopes his dreams will come true: the United States of America.

However, when Austin arrives in this supposed promised land, he is met with a crushing revelation. He finds America to be rife with all the same problems he thought he’d escaped, merely in different forms. Rather than give in to disappointment, he decides to combat these obstacles with a firm resolve. Before long, though, these obstacles threaten to overwhelm him. This realization prompts Austin to rethink how he sees the world and the challenges it throws at him.

A book full of inspiration, failure and triumph

This is a book that you will enjoy reading and reflect about your life and how blessed you are. This book is so inspirational. It will touch your heart is so many ways. I can relate to some of the scenes especially while growing up. People do not know how blessed they are and should be grateful.

It is a book about failure and triumph. Being poor has many privileges. You will be inspired when you read the very first few chapters of the book. In order to be successful, you will encounter so many failures in life. You will learned from your mistake and live with it. This book is about second chance of love. It is a very sweet book. I enjoyed reading this book so much. If you love to travel, make this on your bucket list and begin a new adventure.

Bitten Book by Alan Moore

Book Details:

Book Title: Bitten by Alan Moore
Category: Adult Fiction, 430 pages
Genre: Thriller
Publisher: Self-published
Release date: February 7, 2018
Tour dates: June 4 to 22, 2018
Content Rating: R (Book contains profanities, intermittent sex and violence, incl. one violent sex episode, together with scenes of explicit disaster, distress and death)

Book Description:

In the not-too-distant future, Italy is in disarray. It has voted to leave the EU in an attempt to regain control of its laws, finances and commerce. Even so, the country’s economy is shrinking and its national debt rising. There is a marked escalation, too, in unemployment, bank loans and immigration. Production and service companies are in difficulty. The only thriving business areas are the black market and organised crime. There is discontent and protest on all sides.

In Florence, the local Mafia boss, more accustomed to gunrunning and trading in plutonium, is involved in organising a silent auction for the sale of one of the world’s most valuable lost paintings – a sixteenth-century masterpiece, which was appropriated in World War II by Stalin’s Trophy Brigade. A British art expert is set to buy the picture on behalf of his client, a South American billionaire – yet surprisingly two Italian undercover intelligence agents, acting as antique dealers, submit the winning bid.

All the while, human beings continue to harm the Earth by destroying land, sea, air, animals and trees. Global climate change, polluting the atmosphere, depleting the ozone layer: these are some of man’s crimes against Nature. But time is running out. Nature has lost patience with humans. Unless something is done immediately to reverse the destruction of the ecosystem, Nature will retaliate by deploying the terrifying forces at her command. And as a first step in wreaking her revenge, she instigates a reign of terror by the deadliest creature on Earth.

A book about friendship, lies, disaster and love

This book is an amazing read. It is a book about friendship and their wildest dream. It is a book about lies and individuals just want their evil needs to conquer and ruin other people. It is a book about disaster. Humans are the only ones that ruin the earth and the nature. When you do not take care of nature, it will haunt you and  make big damages that kill thousands of people and their homes. This book is about love which is my favorite part. Love moves in a mysterious way and happens to two people who are deeply in-love with each other.

This book is an amazing read. It is full of adventures especially if Italy is in your bucket list. The book is so informative too which can help and prevent if that disaster will happens to you. It is also a book about compassion which is my other favorite character of a person in real life. This book has an everything you need to enjoy your alone time and reflect life.

Meet the Author:

Born in Surbiton, Surrey in 1944, Alan Moore lives in Barnes, SW London, with his wife, Amber. They have two daughters and a son, who between them have two boys and two girls with another boy expected in May. Alan was educated at Oundle School in Northamptonshire and at London University, where, as an external student, he obtained a BA degree in English. Thereafter, for 25 years, he single-handedly ran his own book publishing company, which at one stage was producing up to 20 titles a year. Now, at the age of 74, he has self-published his first novel.
Interview with Alan Moore:

What made you write a book that tackles the topic of mosquitos as a threat?

In a complete reversal of normal experience, I wasn’t bothered by mosquitoes when I was younger.  It’s only as I’ve grown older that they’ve targeted me. When I go to Nice, they seem to know I’ve arrived back in town and line up on the windowsill waiting to bite me again!  It’s because of this that I decided to write a book that highlights the menace of these potentially dangerous creatures.

Do you have another profession besides writing?

Yes, I’m a part-time book publisher.  For 25 years I single-handedly ran my own publishing company and at one point was producing 20 titles a year.

What is the last great book you’ve read?

The three volumes about Cicero by Robert Harris: Imperium, Lustrum and Dictator.

Your favourite travel spot?

I think that’s probably self-evident.  Florence, Italy.

What is your next project?

I’ve started writing a book which is based on my younger years and my relationship with my godfather, an extraordinary man.  During the time I knew him (he died in 1973), I met fascinating people, I did extraordinary things, I was spoilt beyond belief, and I learnt to love and respect my elders.  The provisional title of the book is Uncle Cyril and Me.

Category: Adult Fiction, 360 pages
Genre: Thriller, TechnoThriller
Publisher: ICABOD Press
Release date: Oct 5, 2017

Content Rating: PG-13 + M (There are some descriptive sex scenes but not throughout)

Book Description:

Do the vast amounts of information and technology available hold humans hostage? Does analog communication create a vulnerability?

The political climate in the world is unnerving. North Korea is running missile tests, but where are they getting their deadly supplies? Meanwhile, terrorists are hiding in plain sight, using American technology that is out on display in libraries and museums for the world to see, but are using analog methods to gather and assemble their information. No internet searches equal no red flags which lets the bad guys believe they are operating undetected. But the Cyber Assassin Technology Services (CATS) team is on the job. As Juan and Julie Rodríguez send their operatives out across the globe to track down these foot soldiers also known as Analog Information Mules, they’ll discover the horrible potential treats, and learn about each other along the way.

Mike and Marge control ePETRO, an oil shipping business with offices in London and New York, but they don’t have the same business goals in mind. Marge intends to sell the North Koreans uranium in addition to oil obtained illegally from the government-sanctioned Middle East. But Mike may have other plans, mainly, keeping the profits of these sales for himself. Then there is the mysterious Steven Christopher, who oversees the AIMs, and is working several angles behind the scenes. Steven is the only one trusted by both Marge and Mike, but why?

The CATs team has feet on the ground, with Ernesto and Tyler following two women through Washington, D.C. as they visit the Smithsonian looking for nuclear fusion processes and down the Texas coast where a dangerous package makes its way onto a ship bound for Asia. Jamie, an Irish man with a heartbreaking past, joins the team in Texas and finds not only a new job, but acceptance. George and Summit travel across Asia following the oil and some suspiciously mislabeled furniture. After a rocky start at being paired up, Mercedes and Brayson head to Panama and are watching a previously known Dark Net data center, but Mercedes is soon extracted to help out in D.C. She quickly becomes embroiled in Steven Christopher’s world. Brayson is left behind alone in Panama and, still recovering from a lost love, learns that he can’t truly be a part of the team until he has forgiven himself.

While Juan stays with Quip and his supercomputer ICABOD, tracking his team members and relaying constantly updated information at the team’s nerve center, Julie heads to London. Julie finds herself in the center of all the trouble as she goes undercover in the ePETRO offices. When Julie disappears, Juan drops everything to find her. Quip loops his wife EZ, a Unified Communications expert, to help monitor and control the CATS team movements so that operatives can find the culprits in their different theaters of operation.

Award-winning authors, Breakfield and Burkey, take readers on a new techno-thriller adventure with their 9th book in The Enigma Series. The Enigma Dragon is a chilling journey across four continents, and twelve cities that uncovers terrifying possibilities of what is to become of our world if the CATS team cannot defeat our enemies.

Lost at Windy Corner: Lessons From Denali On Goals and Risks by [Linsdau, Aaron]

Lost near lethal crevasses and cliffs in a blinding whiteout blizzard is the last place anyone would want to be…

Windy Corner on Denali has claimed lives, fingers, and toes. What would make someone brave lethal weather, crevasses, and slick ice to attempt to summit North America’s highest mountain? Denali has claimed over one hundred lives. It seems like the place for risky adrenaline seekers.

In this book, the author shares the lessons Denali teaches on managing goals and risks. Everyone takes chances at some time in their lives, even if it’s driving down the highway. Becoming a risk manager rather than a risk taker is what will keep you alive during difficult times.

A beautiful book of  inspirations and survival

My husband will enjoy this book as much as I do. It is a beautiful book of inspirations and survival. I loved the photos and the quotes at the end of the chapters. This book is full of adventures. I loved how the main character is fearless and enjoy the best times of his life. I cannot imagine how gorgeous the view is. I would rather take photographs than climb as I have fear of heights. This book is not only  amazing but the tips are very helpful too. If you love the wild scenery like Alaska, this book will amazes you. I enjoyed reading this book.

Antarctic Tears: Determination, adversity, and the pursuit of a dream at the bottom of the world

Antarctic Tears: Determination, adversity, and the pursuit of a dream at the bottom of the world by [Linsdau, Aaron]

Emotions run high in this true polar adventure. It’s a story of triumph, harrowing danger, and outright adventure. In 2012, Aaron Linsdau left his entire life behind.

Gone was the engineering career. He told his family and girlfriend that he wanted to pursue a dream to do something no other American had ever accomplished. He wanted to be the first to ski from the coast of Antarctica to the South Pole and back without aid or support. Alone.

The journey to the South Pole covers over 700 miles through the most forbidding frozen terrain on the planet. The temperature is always below zero and gale force winds routinely roar across the ice. The polar plateau is devoid of life. There are no plants, animals, or insects. Antarctica provides no shelter, no protection, and is unforgiving of any mistake.

But before the expedition was to start, there was much to do. Linsdau trekked 100 miles across the Greenland tundra. He skied across Yellowstone in the winter, camping in -45 degree temperatures. Towing tires up mountains and eating 4000 calories a day was preparation for Antarctica.

Previous expeditions have lost tents, helplessly watching them blow over the horizon. Many explorers have quit or been rescued. What began as a brave adventure into the unknown turned into a battle for survival.

Linsdau takes the reader to Antarctica. They experience incredible storms, skiing blind through whiteouts, crossing invisible crevasses, and skirting disaster. The book shows what happened every day of the expedition.

The air is cold enough to freeze water in seconds and cause frostbite in minutes. Only outer space is less hospitable. Driven by passion, he sacrifices nearly everything to make his dream come true. This is a story about personal discovery, testing the limits of human endurance, total dedication to achieving a goal, and never giving up even when both body and equipment fail.

There were many surprises during Aaron Linsdau’s expedition to the South Pole…

Antarctic Tears is also available as an audiobook in a 9CD box set or as MP3 files on a USB thumb drive.

“I finished your book and it was a great read. I still cannot fathom someone subjecting himself to that kind of environment. -Pulling all of your own supplies, and doing it solo for several months is incredible. I’ve read a lot of human endurance books, but your trip ranks right up there in difficulty.”   – Ed Lavino, Jackson, WY, author of Prevailing Westerlies

Spotlight For The Book Out of Time by Thomas William Lowrie

Book Title: Out of Time (A ray Lafayette Novel) by Thomas William Lowrie
Category: Adult Fiction, 264 pages
Genre: Historical Fiction, Military and War
Publisher: Mindstir Media
Release date: December 4, 2017
Tour dates: May 28 to June 22, 2018
Content Rating: PG-13

Book Description:

Well, here I go again. All alone except for this suitcase of mine. I’m headed for a new place with new people. Not so bad considering it’s 1944. Lots of guys are in my shoes. We’re in the middle of World War II. Still not so bad. I’m a fireman in the Army Air Corps whatever they’re calling themselves these days. Once again, not bad at all. But I was born in 1963. There’s the bad part.

I was not born with the name Ray Lafayette, but that’s what they call me. I didn’t have kids or smoke a pipe. Hell, I didn’t even like coffee. I do now.

I was born into a different life than this, one with a lot of attachments. Now I carry my life in one bag. One really important bag.

In this time, people call me pal or buddy or sir, good lord they call me sir all the time.

I have friends in this time, and they are the best but do they know me like they think they do? Simply put, NO! Would they die for me? Every bit as much as I would die for them.

To say these folks are tough or strong is an understatement. Superhumans? I don’t think so. They were ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances. I didn’t have heroes before this. I didn’t understand them until now.

Since this event has started, I have experienced many things I can’t explain. There is only one other person who has any knowledge of my situation, and I can’t find him. The last words from him were vos non unum, you are not alone.

There was a time I missed all the things that made my life easier as I thought. Here I have no cell phone, no internet, no rock music, no almost anything. As bad as that sounds, I’m not sure if I want to leave here.

As Craige Ingram climbed the stairs of the derelict building, that peculiar stench of a dead body hit him. It was the same smell no matter where—SpecOps SEAL encounter gone sour, or in a vacant, roach-infested apartment. Inside, his SEAL buddy-turned head of Buckingham Parish Homicide’s Investigative Support Division, Grayson MacGerald, was huddled with the coroner next to a swollen decaying corpse that was days old and hardly more than oozing dead meat.

The PI inside Craige had a gut feeling that there was more to this than a dead body, and Craige’s Grannie always told him, “Trust your feelin’s.” But that was before Mihály Keaulescu set down two of his Black Falcon choppers on Craige’s Moccasin Hollow private airstrip in an uninvited stopover. It got worse. From his airstrip to Israel, to Turkey and a nightmare-dream of one-of-a-kind ancient artifacts that not only threatened the serene life Craige knew and loved at Moccasin Hollow, it would destroy the world.

I have the goose bumps all over while reading this unbelievable book

This book is beyond amazing. It is so breathtaking to read I have the goose bumps all over my body. This story is beyond unbelievable. I enjoyed and loved reading this book and the entire series. It is my favorite read this month.

Do you believe in guardian angels? If you do not, read this book and your belief will change. When our loved ones passed away, someway or another they try to communicate with us through dreams and sometimes smell. I missed my Dad so very much. It has been 13 years he passed away. I would be happy if I hear his voice in my dreams or see his  face. He used to be a painter and sometimes I can smell a paint in our house though my husband is not painting. I will speak to myself and will say, Dad, are you around? It makes me happy that though he passed away in the Philippines, he still watching me here in America. It is an amazing feeling because I am such a Daddy girl.

I hope that there is a second book of Dan’s view. I am looking forward to read it be amazed all over again. Ms. D.D. Marx, you blew my mind away.

How did you do research for your book?

Many of the places I write about in my book, I’ve never been too. I used the internet to research fun places to provide a location or setting for a scene or character. I also created Pinterest Boards to help me feel the scene as I was writing it. I’m a very visual person so it helped me to provide that next level of details.

Which was the easiest character to write?

Tex-Mex. He is a completely fictional character – a cowboy. Not sure how or why he developed in my head, but he was the most fun to write. His accent. The dialogue. When I dreamed him up, I pulled up a map of Austin, Texas. I expanded the map and picked a rural area that would be common for ranches

Your book is set in Austin, Texas. Have you ever been there?

I randomly chose – Dripping Springs, Texas – which is where the story ends. I’d never been there, had no idea what it looked like and didn’t know anyone that lived there.  The craziest thing about that choice is I ended up writing all of ‘The Dan Diaries’ IN Dripping Springs, Texas. I wintered with friends in Austin and another friend opened a co-working location in Dripping, where I rented a space and finished the series. Coincidence or fate?

What genre do you write and why?

I write in the Chick-Lit genre because I like the fact that it’s not just about romance or steamy sex, it’s about a journey and overcoming adversity. Readers root for the heroine who usually stumbles her way to a happy ending.  It’s not cliché but is sweet, romantic and light-hearted. I’m a happy go lucky person so want to extend that to my audience.

How long have you been writing?

I went to college and took journalism and public relations courses. Writing was a huge component of that major. My mind has always been more artistic than analytical, so I was smart enough to invest in my strength. I didn’t end of using it until 2015 and now I can’t stop. It brings me so much joy. I’ve truly found my passion.

Synopsis: From USA Today bestselling author J.L. Berg comes a brand new By the Bay stand-alone novel…

Everything was going according to plan…

After years of working my way up the corporate ladder, it was finally my time to shine. I was about to receive the promotion of a lifetime.

But just like that, my life was destroyed with a single career crushing email.

Now, I am headed back home to North Carolina, under the ruse of an extended vacation to help run the family inn while my sister is on maternity leave. After all, what is family for? Plus, a few days at the beach could definitely help uncomplicate this crazy life of mine.

Enter Aiden Fisher.

Aiden is a guest at my sister’s inn. He’s wicked hot, a huge flirt and has one of the sexiest British accents I’ve ever heard. But beyond all that, I see a darkness in his soul, as if he’s carrying a great weight upon his shoulders.

I find myself pushing back my trip home to Florida in hopes that maybe I’ll look into those hazel brown eyes and finally see truth shining back instead of lies. That maybe he’ll stop running and tell me the truth for once.

But you know what they say about liars? It takes one to know one and I’ve been telling the biggest lie of all – I’ve fallen hopelessly in love with Aiden.

And isn’t that the scariest truth of all?

It is an emotional book to read

Relationship builds with secret and illicit affairs will not last. Destiny will help you to heal and loved again. This book is emotional. You might need a Kleenex. It is a fun book to read as well with family ties so closed especially with sisters. It is a beautiful book of dreams but heart aches. They say if you loved someone, set them free and if comes back, then it is meant to be. This book is about it. I enjoyed reading the series.

Excerpt:

My eyes bolted open as sunlight from the windows glared down at me.

Where am I?

I sat up, quietly stretching as if I had all the time in the world.

Because I did, right?

No job. No responsibilities.

Responsibilities…

Shit!

Breakfast for the guests!

I bolted out of bed, frantically searching for my clothes. Where were my clothes? I tried to think back to the night before, but it was blurry.

Hazy.

And then the hammering in my head began.

Shit, how much did I drink last night?

“Where are you running off to so early?”

The deep British accent had me stopping in my tracks.

Last night…

I turned on my heels, tugging on the short shirt I had on, wishing it were suddenly a dress. Or a robe.

Or anything longer than a shirt.

Aiden’s eyes perused my body with a wide grin on his face as he casually tucked his hands behind his head. I tried not to notice the way the muscles in his arms flexed.

Or the fact that, besides a carefully placed sheet, he was basically lying naked before me.

“Oh my God,” I whispered. My fingers raked through my hair as I tried to remember the night before. “We didn’t…did we?”

The question had him immediately sitting up in bed, causing that well-placed sheet to shift.

I gulped as all of him—and I did mean all of him—came into view.

Oh Jesus, Mary, and Joseph.

I turned around, my cheeks flushing as heat spread through my body. He wasn’t just naked. He was naked and very much awake.

“You don’t remember?” he asked as I listened to the bed groan as he stood.

“No,” I admitted. “Do you?”

I heard the telltale sign of jeans being zipped, giving me the courage to turn back around. Sure enough, he was decent.

Well, as decent as a shirtless, hot-as-fuck Brit could be. God, I thought his muscles had muscles.

“Um, no,” he answered, but there was a hint of sadness to his eyes as he reached down to grab his shirt off the floor.

I let out a tiny whimper of protest as the black T-shirt slid down his body.

He really was beautiful.

I shook my head, trying to keep focused. “Oh, that’s great. Just fucking great. So, what happened here exactly?”

He pointed to the pile of clothes and the mostly empty alcohol bottle on the nightstand, that sadness drying up as he let out a breath and straightened, his features hardening. “I think that’s pretty clear.”

My arms folded across my chest before I realized that only brought my shirt higher up my waist. Aiden didn’t miss the extra peek of flesh either as I watched his grin widen.

“Nope, I don’t believe you. I don’t do one-night stands. Ever.”

“Ever?” he echoed, surprise written all over his stupid face.

“Yes. Ever. Why is that so hard to believe? Do I look like the one-night-stand kind of girl?”

“Well, right now. Sort of.”

Meet J. L. Berg:

J.L.Berg.jpg

I’m a California native, who lives in the South – Virginia to be exact. I still prefer sushi to fried chicken, avocados to okra, and I absolutely loathe humidity. I do love watching the seasons change though. My husband and I have been here for over a decade, and I still get giddy like a school girl every time it snows. It’s magical!

I’m married to my high school sweetheart, and we’ve been blessed with two beautiful daughters and two rescue pups I like to call my “coworkers”. I’m obsessed with chocolate, minions, anything Harry Potter and I love to watch re-runs of Friends and Gilmore Girls!

Crazy Fox Ranch (Paige MacKenzie mystery) by Deborah Garner

Crazy Fox Ranch by [Garner, Deborah]

NEW RELEASE….

When NY reporter Paige MacKenzie leaves Manhattan for Jackson Hole, she has only two things on her mind: enjoy life with Wyoming’s breathtaking Grand Tetons as the backdrop, and spend more time with handsome cowboy Jake Norris as he prepares to open his guest ranch.

As Paige begins to settle in, a stranger’s odd behavior leads her to research western filming in the area – in particular, the movie, Shane. Will digging into Hollywood’s movie connection with Jackson Hole simply lead to a freelance article for the Manhattan Post, or will it lead to a dangerous hidden secret?

Trust your instinct

I loved how Paige’s mind never stop even while in vacation. This girl is amazing. She trusts her instinct and solved the mystery. It is a very sweet book with suspense and adventure. I loved how Paige enthusiasm and being adventurous. This girl is unstoppable with a mind of a reporter and fearless. I loved where the setting in this book is. I bet is a beautiful place but I do not think I will stay during the winter. It is a small town where everybody knows everybody.  The last two chapters are the best to read and exciting. I cannot wait to read what is the next book for this series. I loved Paige and Jake and course their fury animals as well. It is a beautiful book if you love Western and of course mystery. It is hard to put it down.
